Oaks & Acorns has designed an intergenerational social skills program, which supports self esteem and allows individuals to feel confident in most social situations – especially those involved with eating etiquette. As students learn: Why Manners are Important; First Impressions: Introductions, Meeting and Greeting; Communicating with Confidence: Speaking and Listening skills; Table Setting: What Goes Where; Table Manners: Do’s and Dont's; Restaurant Etiquette; Body Language and Poise; Phone Manners and Thank You Letters – values are being instilled, they are learning from fabulous senior role models, and having fun as they learn!
The instructors: Alannah Sinclaire was trained by Maggie O’Farrill*, leading educator and international coach in etiquette and social skills. Jacqueline Hicks, was trained beginning at an early age in manners, etiquette and the importance of social graces.
*In addition to developing courses that address social challenges for youth, Maggie O’Farrill has served a program director for her mother’s renowned finishing school, the Margarita O’Farrill Institute in Los Angeles. Manners, etiquette and learning the “social graces” are vital life skills. As Maggie O’Farrill rightly points out, “You never know where you will be or to whom you will be speaking in life.”
