Our Mission:
Oaks & Acorns is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, sustaining and enhancing programs which bring senior adults (Oaks) and children (Acorns) together in mutually rewarding activities.

About Us:
For the past 14 years
, Oaks & Acorns has been bringing seniors (Oaks) and children (Acorns) together in safe, healthy and fun learning environments. Both populations are "safe" from any kinds of judgment, ridicule, and/or physical safety challenge.  We are also careful to go at the pace of the children and the elderly - I.e. "no rushing" - just relaxed interacting. Oaks & Acorns strives to be "healthy" in it's refreshments (healthy snacks), it's games (non-competitive), and outdoor environments (I.e. intergenerational planting trees, cleaning up the beaches, etc.), and last, not least, is the joyful learning that is part of our mission in having the generations come together in meaningful and fun activities where the seniors can share their wisdom and experience, and the little ones can share their youthful vitality while giving and receiving unconditional acceptance and love.

New and Exciting events over here at Oaks & Acorns headquarters!

We are starting a Pilot project called Efficiensee.ORG* -- organizing roundtables into think tank & brainstorming sessions for non-profit providers of human services. The objective is to discuss challenges with a focus on solutions, resources and opportunities.

We all attend workshops. We're hungry for ideas, insights and best practices that can benefit our organizations and our clients. But how often do the solutions that we use come from conversations or collaboration with peers rather than a "brain dump" from a lecture?

As Efficiensee.ORG*, we're combining the best of what we've learned from decades of workshop experiences. We're inviting experts to contribute their expertise, but in a context of leading rather than preaching. Insights will gain traction through applying "what-if" scenarios to attendee situations. Coaches and attendees collaborate to focus on real-world challenges, often using their own organizations as focal points.

We'll be going the extra mile by distributing queries and information prior to the focus groups, then following up with transcripted highlights of "views you can use" leading into the next roundtable. At the core of this on-going exploration is meeting the needs of our organizations today and in the future, identifying the real barriers to success, and marshalling the resources to overcome them.

To enable technology as a resource, rather than a barrier, we rely upon our partner, Imiror Corporation in our public/private partnership. They have gathered together the expertise and database tools for tracking human services to improve productivity throughout a provider organization. Rapid implementation tools enable solutions now to measure and report outcomes for reporting, grant writing and funding requirements.
